ELIGIBILITY

Selection of Team Players shall be in accordance with the ISA Constitution and in particular Article IX New Members.

OFFICIALS

1. A Tournament Director (TD) shall be appointed by the President of The International Shuffleboard Association. The TD will have the authority and responsibility to appoint officials as required to meet the requirements of the Playing Rules to follow.

PLAYING RULES

1. No charting is permitted during International Shuffling.  Specifically, no player may refer to drawings or any similar device designed to assist in executing the shot after the game has started.

2. The game shall be “NON WALKING SINGLES" with two opposing players at each end of the court.
3. A game shall consist of 16 frames, 8 on each colour.  Players change colour at the end of 8 frames.
4. At the beginning of each game, two (2) discs may be shot by each player to check speed.  Four (4) setup disks are allowed for each player.  The shooter may ask the team member at the other end to place his/her cue in the desired location for the first shot and thereafter, the team member may position the shooter’s discs as targets.
5. After changing colour at the end of eight (8) frames, four (4) setup discs may be shot by each player on their new colour. The shooter may ask the team member at the other end to place his/her cue in the desired location for the first shot and thereafter, the team member may position the shooter’s discs as targets.
6. WHERE THERE IS DOUBT AS TO WHETHER OR NOT A DISC IS COUNTING: FIRST CALL shall be made by the team member playing black. The team member playing yellow may then get up and look at the disc in question. If the team member playing yellow disagrees with the original call the Tournament Director or the person designated by the Tournament Director shall be asked to make the third and final call. NOTE: As the ISA event is a Team Competition, there is neither need nor right for the Shooter to examine the disc.

COURT ASSIGNMENTS

All court and colour assignments are the   responsibility of the TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR.

SUBSTITUTION

1. National teams, consisting of more than 8 but less than 12 players, thus requiring the Captains to substitute in their non-playing members for a particular game to fill the scheduled 12 positions will perform this revised schedule in advance and present their official substitutions to the Tournament Director, who in turn, will make it available to all National Presidents/Team Captains before the 1st scheduled game of the tournament.  Every effort must be made to prevent these substituted players from playing an opponent more than once during this tournament, however when unavoidable, it may be authorized by the TD.

2. If any player scheduled to play in GAME 1 is not present and ready to play at his/her assigned court when the tournament Director calls for play to commence, an alternative player from that nation may be assigned to play on that team by their National President. If the National President is not available, the assignment may be made by the Team Captain and the player so assigned becomes the regular player for the duration of the Tournament. The Tournament Director shall be so notified.
3. If a team member becomes sick or incapacitated and unable to play any game scheduled for that player, the Team Captain may substitute another player from the same team who is not scheduled to play in the game who has not played that same opponent and who is not scheduled to play that opponent later. The TD must be consulted each time this Rule is invoked.  The incapacitated player may return as a player for future games if able.
4. Substitutions are not permitted for any reason after a game has begun. If a player becomes unable to finish a game, he/she forfeits that game.

DRESSING OF COURTS

The courts shall be dressed and beaded by the Host using their "CUSTOMARY METHOD." If they customarily use the "SPRINKLING" method to apply dressing to the court during the course of the game, they may use that method.

PENALTIES

2. Notwithstanding 1. (above), we expect the Team Captains are to ensure that the appropriate level of decorum is maintained at all times.  Team Captains must bring any rule infractions to the attention of their player(s). The TD may intercede as indicated.
